SIR - I refer to the article regarding Grand Central's proposals for direct train services between Bradford and London (T&A, September 21).
I write on behalf of Bradford & District Older People's Alliance of which I am chairman of the Transport Working Group.
BOPA wrote in support of a direct service to London when Grand Central's proposals were first announced some time ago and we continue to feel that such a service is essential to many people but especially to the disabled or elderly.
It can be quite daunting to such people if they have to change trains at Leeds, especially if they are travelling alone.
We feel that a city of Bradford's size and importance should have direct services to London and elsewhere rather have to depend on Leeds for such services.
