SIR - Considering the mess national government has made of law and order and immigration, I can't understand why anybody worries about the EU giving us a helping hand on them.

What does it matter if we were to have an EU police force? We're in Nato but you don't see any Dutch or Belgian soldiers patrolling our streets, though it might not be such a bad idea as all ours seem to be serving the president of the United States.

As for tax harmonisation, if it gives us the same quality or public services as they have in Holland, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden etc, let's go for it.

British people are traditional moaners, famed the world over for their negative opinions on everything, particularly if it's new.

As for being run from Brussels, what an improvement that would be. Move on.
