SIR - Can anyone tell me why there are police monitoring bus lane' signs on Thornton Road?
I travel this route every day in the rush hour and have lost count of the number of vehicles going up the bus lane to avoid queuing.
Indeed, in the last four years I have only known the police to be in attendance once - admittedly there are probably more pressing matters for them to attend to.
The problem would be alleviated if the lights at the junction of Ingleby Road let more than five or six cars through at a time, but why not simply get rid of the restricted bus lane completely and allow two lanes of traffic to travel?
It would make a move to lessen the frustration of the drivers who actually take heed of such notices.
