SIR – Margaret Southern teacher of deaf children in Bradford is quite right when she says what a great place the St Ives Estate at Harden is (Letters, November 30).

In fact, so much so, I believe that when Disraeli, our 19th century Jewish Prime Minister, stayed with the Ferrands family, he thought the Harden valley to be the most beautiful place in England.
