SIR – How disappointing to hear that Bradford Council are stopping businesses from advertising their services via A-frames placed on a grass verge to inform people of their existence.

I bet the regeneration committee is fuming as the Council stops Bradford businesses from advertising.

Using health and safety as an excuse doesn’t work. If A-frames are distracting to motorists, then how distracting are the 50ft by 20ft billboards strategically placed alongside all our main roads?

How will Bradford businesses ever regenerate or succeed if they are prevented from advertising by the very Council that purports to support them?
