SIR – It is clear that people who took part in the strikes yesterday in Bradford and around the country are not living in the real world. There are 2.6 million unemployed people that would give anything to be in a steady, safe job with a pension at the end of it that is guaranteed.

There are many more millions of people in the private sector that would give their right arm for a pension scheme like the one on offer.

The public sector may be annoyed enough to strike, but most of them still have jobs and they’ll all retire on a final salary pension. They are completely in denial, and this action just proves how out of touch with reality they are and will continue to be in the future.
