SIR – With Christmas approaching, I am appealing for volunteers for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal. Although the appeal doesn't take place until March, planning for the local collections is already under way and we're looking for people to help us organise them in Bradford District.

Marie Curie Nurses like me provide free care for terminally-ill people in their own homes. I see first-hand what it means for patients to have the choice of where to spend their final days, surrounded by family and friends, which is why the Great Daffodil Appeal is so important. I will be working throughout the festive season to ensure that patients can spend time with loved ones at home, the place most people want to be.

The Marie Curie Hospice, Bradford, will also be providing free care and support to patients and families. With 24-hour visiting and family rooms, the hospices enable families to spend quality time together at Christmas. Donating your time to the appeal will allow Marie Curie Nurses to provide more care to people with terminal cancer.

We’ve got a role for everyone, so please get in touch. Join your local team of volunteer collectors by calling Marie Curie Cancer Care now on 0845 6013107, or visit mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil to find out more.
