SIR - The impudent offer of £800,000 to Bradford Council to take on responsibility for the fiasco at Saltaire roundabout is typical of this Government's antics.
They tried to get credit for building the Bingley Relief Road which had, in fact, been planned and work had started when we had a Conservative Government.
Blair and Co failed to consider the effect this road would have on traffic at Saltaire and ought to have pursued the problem envisaged by the Department of Transport in 1986.
This problem will not be solved by blocking Moorhead Lane and erecting traffic lights on the roundabout.
