SIR – As we’re in economy crisis, why does Mrs Walker MBE and others think the Government should appoint a Minister for Older People (T&A, November 24)?

This would mean having to pay another Minister and all the trimmings that come along with that.

It would cost the taxpayer more money, as we already have a Minister of State for Care Service whose responsibilities include older people. This means that we don’t need to appoint one, which is great when we are seeing large cuts to services for vulnerable people up and down the country.

People with concerns about older people services should take them to Bradford Council’s Adult Protection Unit, where they will be investigated locally.
