Local authorities are having to look closely at all the services they provide and everything must be considered. But it is still vitally important that the social as well as the financial impact of any reduction in funding or cuts to services are considered.
Back in July, Bradford Council took steps to make the Industrial Services Group more self-sufficient, with a view to it eventually becoming self-financing.
At the time, this newspaper sounded a note of caution, expressing concerns about what safety net would be available if it did become independent.

Businessman Paul Rimay-Muranyi is trying to encourage other local companies to use ISG more, a move we can only echo.

ISG provides an invaluable role in helping those who might have difficulties finding work elsewhere to be employed, building their confidence and allowing them to experience a business environment.
The Council needs to look long and hard before it makes any changes that could lead to a reduction in the levels of disabled people ISG employs.
