SIR – Taken in a purely secular and materialistic sense, your correspondent Mr Delaney (Letters, November 21) was quite right to question the ethics of the Bible’s Matthew 25-29. However, I am certain this was not the interpretation intended by the Scriptures.
There is more to a human being than his/her solely physical presence. This short homily tells us that we should use our talents wisely and productively, not wastefully.
But above all, to those who have faith, more will be given, and those who have not any belief will find that the little they have will dwindle and vanish.
Life is more than wealth and material possessions. The sooner we realise this, the better.
