SIR – Unlike N Shaw (Letters, November 22), I don’t look at my neighbour and think life is unjust because he seems to have a better deal in life. I work in the public sector, and have done for 23 years. By the time I retire I will have worked a total of 45 years, contributing to the supperannuation scheme in all of this time.
I currently contribute around £200 a month (which could rise to £300 a month under the changes). I would like to ask N Shaw how many people he/she knows who make such a provision for their retirement?
The proposed changes (too large to discuss here) will profoundly effect a large proportion of public-sector workers, and as the Council and NHS Trust are the two largest employers in Bradford, this means a lot of people (who will be in this all together).
If you care about the services you receive, then spend some time looking at the proposed changes, rather than listening to negative press.
Public-sector workers need your support and understanding, both now and throughout the planned industrial action.
