SIR – Bradford Rail Users’ Group has campaigned for a cross-rail link since being formed in 2001.
Such a link connecting the two separate networks would confer several benefits, for example, allowing continuous rail journeys from the north of Bradford to the south and vice-versa, crossing Bradford city centre.
However, in view of the fact that such a scheme does not enjoy the support of either Bradford Council or the Government, together with cuts in rail capital investment projects in England, it is unlikely the link would be built for many years.
Furthermore, it little benefits Bradford for the Broadway site to remain undeveloped and it would be far better for the city that the shopping complex is built as soon as possible.
There is little value insisting on one development which may never be built which may jeopardise a more probable one.
