SIR – In Clayton Victoria Park there was the usual large turnout of young and old in an act of remembrance on Sunday, November 13, 2011.
Almost every week we hear of yet another loss of life in our armed services and it is difficult to imagine the grief of the families concerned as they try to come to terms with their loss and, sadly, some may never do so.
In the park, on the cenotaph, there are many names and we should remember that these are not just names but each name represents a life lost and they have left families who mourned.
We should never forget they have made the supreme sacrifice for us and, sadly, members of our armed services continue to do this.
All the uniformed young people, Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Brownies and Rainbows were at the cenotaph together with some veterans in the crowd.
There is no doubt that we live in troubled times, with an uncertain future, but it is only right that we reflect on all we have been given by those who, for us, gave everything.
