SIR - If Bradford is to be seen as a proper city, albeit not on the scale of Leeds, it has to have significant modern architecture as is proposed in the scheme near Foster Square (T&A September 19).
While there may be arguments against high-rise housing on social grounds and we are in danger of surrendering to too high density development not just in the city but in the suburbs, there can be no case for restricting high-rise office development, and the reduction from 22 storeys to 13 is totally out of order. Far from reducing such heights, they could readily be increased.
Some recent buildings approved, though not all, seem to lack vision so now is an opportunity to build something of significance and not mediocrity.
