SIR - In the article Muslims question Pope's apology' (T&A, September 19) Sher Azam says "the apology is welcomed, but he hasn't explained his own position or what his view is.
"If you look at the Pope's past opinions on Turkey joining the EU he had reservations there. Does he believe in an inclusive Europe or an exclusive one?"
The Pope was only quoting from the past and the reference was taken out of context of the overall speech. So why should he now be expected to explain in detail his views in addition to the apology he has issued?
Turkey is not part of Europe and should not be admitted to the EU and this is further endorsed by the over-reaction of some Muslims to the Pope's speech.
In order to build bridges, it's time the Muslim faith faced up to their shortcomings and moved in to 2006. Even now Muslims are killing Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Sudan. What are they doing about this?
