SIR – I was pleased to read (T&A, November 2) that the future of Bradford Industrial Museum’s horses (pictured) has finally been decided. Bradford Council appears to have looked carefully at the options and, in my opinion, have chosen well.
I am a supporter of Hillside Shire Horse and Farm Animal Sanctuary, and I feel this is the right place for the horses for all the positive reasons mentioned in your report. They will continue to live in a stimulating environment and be on show.
It is unfortunate it has been necessary to place them so far away. However, Norfolk is not the ends of the earth and is a lovely place for a holiday.
I hope all local people who have been following this debate about the horses’ future will accept they now have the best chance of a happy life.
Hillside can be found at hillside.org.uk. Schools might like to raise money to help provide the horses’ feed. Interested individuals could become supporters.
I hope that my letter will reassure your readers, particularly the children involved.
