SIR – I spent £3.30 on a First Day Rover bus ticket to go to Bradford Interchange and book a ticket to Scotland with National Rail.
I asked to travel on October 26, arriving at Wishaw at about 4pm and returning on Sunday, October 30, leaving Wishaw at 3pm.
The booking clerk said: “If you travel at those times it’ll be a Standard Return at £88.” I replied: “Could you make it cheaper if you altered the times?”
He brought forward each journey by about two hours and quoted me a new price of £35.50.
I felt my extra expense in travelling to book my ticket in person was well worth it!
My friends in Scotland were delighted to see me and all my trains made the connections.
Thank you National Rail!
