SIR – Max Hey in his letter (‘Poor renewable ratio’, T&A October 31) singles out renewable energy, and wind turbines in particular, as the culprit for poor cost-effectiveness contributing to rising energy bills.
Leaving his questionable figures aside, he only considers production costs.
Who can estimate the bills we are still paying and will continue to pay for the after-effects of reliance on fossil fuels and nuclear energy?
It is especially ironic that his letter appeared on the same day that the Coalition Government announced it was withdrawing its subsidy for domestic installation of solar energy panels as too many people were taking it up.
And this from the Government which claimed to be the greenest Government ever!
