SIR – The BBC recently announced that because the TV licence fee had been frozen for six years, they would have to show many more repeats.

This was no empty threat for on Saturday, October 22, every programme on BBC2 from noon until midnight was a repeat, including two black and white films dated 1936 and 1942.

Having a TV licence is obligatory, so if we are to be inundated with repeats, how about the BBC giving viewers the chance to choose which programmes they would like to see again? Just a thought.
