SIR – Can I ask anyone who may have missed the planning proposal for Myrtle Park in Bingley to have a look and object?
The organisers of Bingley Music Live want to build a tarmac road through the bottom meadow to make it easier to move equipment. I do not object to the use of the park for events such as this – it is very disruptive for us but a lot of people enjoy it.
I do, however, strongly object to the proposal to build a road through the bottom meadow.
This part of Myrtle Park is almost rural – there are trees, woods on the hillside and the Aire meandering past. There are cows, ducks and geese and peace.
The meadow is used for local football teams, children playing, dog walkers etc.
BML is here once a year and makes a big-enough mess at the time – with the churning up the grass and the amount of litter created in the park and the surrounding area. Also – despite notices – we have terrible problems with parking.
We’re prepared to put up with it once a year but don’t want our beautiful bit of rural Bingley spoiled the rest of the year by a road.
