SIR – Everyone picks up a T&A and it’s all doom and gloom. Burst water mains pipe and traffic chaos, old textile mills burning down and now Bradford Council’s £7.5 million overspend.
Why is this no surprise? It would seem Bradford Council have failed in listening to the voice of Bradfordians and this city has become a ghost town.
The decline of manufacturing jobs and now public sector jobs has affected shops and public houses around the city. Ten years the Odeon has stood empty and lost money, looking old with trees growing from the gutters.
But there is hope if the Westfield Mall gets built and Debenhams joins the group and if there is a cross city rail link between the Interchange and Foster Square and better public transport could be improved as well.
Invest in the unemployed in Bradford and Bradfordians will help the city’s economy become strong again.
