SIR – While many people feel disillusioned with the NHS, I am a great supporter. I have very complex health needs, and this is compounded by being diagnosed with MS a year ago.

My GP and the staff at St Luke’s Hospital and the BRI have been magnificent. Communication between the departments is impeccable, especially in determining a number of seemingly unconnected health complaints to come to a final diagnosis.

My GP has been an amazing support, taking time to support me to come to terms with my condition and plan strategies to cope.

It has been a long journey, and during that time I have made suggestions to Dr Rashid and I feel I have been listened to and seen response to my ideas.

You can imagine how gob-smacked I was to find the PCT is to terminate the contract and put the practice out to competitive tender. The practice scores highly in PCT targets, so why?

I have written to the PCT asking for an explanation and been to consultation meetings to find out why, but so far I have not had a satisfactory answer.

It begs the question is too much money being spent on wasted administration processes rather than medical care?
