SIR – Along with many other charities, we at Duckworth Lane Oxfam find ourselves appealing to your readers to respond immediately to our plea for donations of clothes, items for the home, all household goods, books, toys and games.
It is perhaps a sign of the times that a shop that has always been extremely well supported by our donors, is now appealing for goods. We are a valuable resource to our community and also a huge range of people who go past everyday. Our volunteers range in age from 16 to 80 and we pride ourselves on giving valuable experience to a large number of school students from all ethnic backgrounds.
We also operate a house-clearance scheme and a monthly pick up for those without transport or with many goods to donate.
Our aim is to help Oxfam’s worldwide response to millions of people who depend on our work, and your donations fund vital projects to people, regardless of creed or colour.
We, the volunteers at Duckworth Lane, urge all your readers to have a real clear-out, and we will use everything!
If you need to contact us, phone (01274) 544495 or just turn up with your donations during shop hours.
