SIR - I was so pleased to read (T&A, September 14) that Bradford Cathedral , right, has set out its "vision". Where better than a cathedral to afford a miraculous insight into the future?

But who are these "stakeholders" who have reportedly agreed the "vision statement"? Are they members of the congregation? The cathedral authorities? A mingling of the good and the great? Or are these "stakeholders", perhaps, latter-day adherents of Bloody Mary', ready to set fire to those who refuse to embrace the Catholic faith? Will the cathedral still then be (as promised) "A safe and welcoming space"?

For "vision", read, of course, "mission" (but without any religious connotations!). When our cathedrals follow our great schools and become (in their tiny minds) mere businesses, mouthing corporate tosh and safety-at-work babble, is it any wonder that ever fewer either attend church or write English properly?
