SIR – Coming back from holiday, I hastened into Asda to buy my usual ice creams (vanilla and toffee cones – six in a box – any two for £2). I bought four boxes, as usual, and it wasn’t until I unpacked that I realised the boxes were much smaller than usual.
Yes, you’ve guessed it – a rather sneaky way to increase prices, with only four in a box for the same price as the original six – a price increase of 33 per cent.
This was a very obvious price hike, but I wonder how many more price increases there have been that are not so obvious.
According to the experts, many products are the same price, but have been reduced in size or quantity.
That’s Asda price!
