SIR – Further to the letter from Mr Martin Palliser under the title Service Is Failing City (T&A, September 22).
First has not announced any such changes to its bus services and networks in Bradford.
The content of the published letter is wholly inaccurate and misleading and we would ask Mr Palliser to substantiate the content of his letter.
Earlier this year, First UK Bus division announced £160m investment in new vehicles, £27m investment in advanced ticketing technology – a significant proportion of this investment will benefit Bradford and the wider West Yorkshire areas.
In addition, First has just commenced an intensive marketing campaign which includes for the first time, advertisements being aired on regional television channels, along with supplementary radio and other media activities and targeted direct mail promotions throughout the district.
I would be very interested to meet with Mr Palliser in an effort to understand the assertions that he has made and can only reiterate that they are completely without foundation and that First is committed to growing its passenger numbers in the Bradford area.
Dave Alexander, regional managing director, First (North)
