SIR – Regarding Clear Out for Charity (T&A, Saturday 17).
My wife and I have often taken items to the local charity shops and sometimes bought things ourselves, such as books. But we find the British Heart Foundation so expensive compared to the other charity shops.
For instance books £2.49, DVD £2.50, but for clothes and shirts you can pay a pound extra and get most of these items new at some shops.
Most charity shops sell their books at 50p or two for a pound. For shirts, you can go to Primark and get something for just that little bit extra. I can understand its for charity, but what about the people who are not well off buying there.
It should be cheaper for those people who buy things there, that’s why people go, thinking it will be cheaper, but it certainly is not.
