SIR - I must respond to the letter from David Rhodes (T&A, September 11).
I have traded in the John Street venue for more than 27 years and my family for 42 years, unfortunately since the venue has been refurbished and renamed business has been in decline.
Bradford Council has recently undertaken a marketing campaign to advertise the local markets and unfortunately as we are a shopping centre we do not benefit from the much-needed advertising.
I have started a petition to lobby for the market to revert to being called John Street Market. It is available to sign at Infantastic Childrenswear, Pat's Lingerie and Mary's Shoe Bar.
This has attracted more than 1,000 signatures to support the name change so it would appear that there is a lot in a name, certainly a lot of Bradfordians and those trading within the market.
Please can we thank all those people who have signed our petition. Many have made a special journey into Bradford just to support us and we welcome any other who would like to add their signature to our cause.
Mick Egan, John Street Market, Bradford
