SIR - I cannot believe the hysteria regarding so-called dangerous dogs (T&A, September 12).

I fully sympathise with anyone actually attacked by such an animal but you are more likely to be run down by a mad animal using a mobile phone at the wheel of a monster four-wheel drive. Rather than more laws that will add to the very long list of un-enforced regulations that are already in place it would be far better to actually use some of them.

It is also time we gave some thought for the other creatures on this planet that we seem determined to eliminate.

These animals are not concreting over the land, polluting our environment and ultimately destroying the earth. Dogs among many other animals make human existence not only a pleasure but without some creatures we could not even survive. Think about it.

If when I walk down the street I meet someone waving their arms frantically and screaming at me I might easily think I am being attacked and try to defend myself, maybe some more education is needed.
