SIR - David Rhodes really wants to make his mind up about the NHS.

On August 24 he berated it for not supplying a drug that the National Institute for Clinical Excellence has only approved for clinical purposes.

That being the case, surely the NHS's hands are tied.

He goes on to say: "Is this the same caring NHS that has been the envy of the world?"

Then on August 26 he praises the doctor who found a heart murmur in a 15-month-old girl who may have surgery within two months, saying: "Let's hope it's successful."

This little girl is now in the hands of the NHS and will receive the very best of care and attention and yes, Mr Rhodes, it should encourage us to support the British Heart Foundation.

Currently on television there is a programme called Trauma and one can't help but be moved by the work going on in front of our eyes.

From a laceration to the most horrific accidents, once you arrive in hospital, irrespective of your age, race, colour or creed, if you are foreign, legal or illegal, you are looked after by the very best people in their field, for free.

The NHS is a massive organisation employing millions and mistakes are bound to be made but believe me, Mr Rhodes, we are the envy of the world.
