SIR - On Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending the opening performance of the Saltaire Festival - The Opera Party.

Three opera singers from Opera North gave us a delightful programme of famous arias from the world of grand opera.

We were a "small but very appreciative audience". It was such a pity there were so few people present. The evening was an astounding success and I felt privileged to be able to hear these gems in such an intimate setting.

It is very rare that opera is brought so close to us and I feel sad so many missed out on what was such a wonderful experience.
