SIR – I am writing to you and your readers to encourage you to take a leaf out of my book by clearing your shelves for the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) BIG Entertainment Appeal this month.
My entertainment collection is full of treasures! From The Beatles and Cliff Richard to Jackie Collins and Pride & Prejudice, I enjoyed rummaging through, relieving the memories, and passing them on to a great cause.
It would warm my heart to see your readers taking a trip down memory lane too by sharing some of their classics with BHF shops. Is your favourite read of last year now gathering dust on your book case? Have you listened to that must-have CD one too many times?
BHF shops have an ambitious target of generating good quality books, CDs and DVDs throughout the month which will help fight heart disease.
Last year, BHF shops raised more than £22 million, helped by the sale of second-hand items, so think twice before hoarding those items for yet another year.
For more information on The BIG Entertainment Appeal, and to locate your nearest BHF shop, visit bhf.org.uk/ entertainment, or call 0844 4125000.
