SIR – I am a pupil at St Philip’s Primary School, and last year when I was in Year 5 I used to visit Manningham Pool, which is threatened with closure, with my classmates. However my sister, in Year 4, might not be able to start going when she is in Year 5.
This is a real concern to me as some children in Year 4 don’t know how to swim.
For a child, learning to swim gives heaps of confidence. Learning to swim is something you need for life and without it you don’t know what the future will hold for other pupils.
