SIR – There is currently a movement to persuade over-70s to get on to the internet.
I will be 91 this month and I tried to renew my GB Photocard Driving Licence on the internet. What a joke! Switch on and try to find the renewal form amid scrolls of other information and adverts.
When found, you are confronted by a request for your ‘Government Gateway User ID – or Password Reset’! I do not know what they are talking about, and I cannot find mention of it in the leaflets INS201/2 or WF50. Why not?
I know my son or grandson will do it in a few minutes for me and I will feel stupid, but I am not. If people seriously want us oldies to use the internet then they have to do better and make it simpler for us.
Why not get someone to monitor guidance notes who is older and not conversant with jargon?
I use e-mail and Facebook regularly, but this lost me and I had to revert to filling in the form and posting it.
Again, their fault, I think. Not mine.
