SIR – R Halliday’s letter (T&A, May 13) seems to say he is feeling sorry for the Lib Dems. Well I don’t.
Why did the electorate pick on them, as he puts it? Because of broken promises in their election manifesto, as was stated on Question Time on Thursday, May 12, by members of the public.
David Cameron has stuck by what he said he would do, but the Lib Dems haven’t, hence they have been punished at the ballot box. As for the bit about John Watmough, he can’t say he wants to save Windhill Library but vote to close it in the Council budget, along with Labour.
As for hard-working councillors, they might have around in his ward but certainly not in some parts of Bradford East, where I haven’t had a leaflet from them in four years, apart from the one the postman delivered during the General Election.
