SIR – I am very grateful to all the staff on Ward 11 who were excellent with my care as an in-patient last year. They were also very kind to my relative who was admitted there a few months ago before surgery.
It is a shame that there are not enough staff on such a large and busy ward, and more must be done to take the stress and pressure off those poor nurses. There are just not enough of them to do all what they have to do.
With all the cutbacks we are now experiencing, this is one area where there needs to be a major investment. You can never have too many nurses and medical staff.
How they cope I don’t know, with their patience with some demanding patients while maintaining a very good bedside manner. They all deserve a medal.
