SIR – Yet again (Letters, April 28), David Rhodes is putting the metaphorical boot into my worthy self.

I apologise for my weak attempt at the age-old rhubarb and custard joke, but Mr Rhodes suggests that I am ‘unaware’ that waste products from farm and other animals contains the nutrient requirements for healthy plant growth.

Well I would put it to Mr Rhodes that I am more than aware, and that I put it into practice.

I would also put it that I have forgotten more about horticultural and gardening matters than Mr Rhodes is likely to know.
