SIR – In the T&A (May 6) the question is asked – which fish and chip shop would get your vote as the district’s best.
In my view, the best chippy in the district would have to be Grandma Pollard’s famous establishment in the village of Walsden, one and a half miles beyond Todmorden.
This establishment dishes up a huge serving of great tasting fish and chips which may be consumed inside or outside in the seating areas along side the picturesque Rochdale Canal.
One can also dine inside a 1950s bus and enjoy music of the period while eating.
For anyone interested in gardening, just up the road is Gordon Riggs one of the largest and finest garden centres in the land.
