SIR – With reference to Michael Bonallie’s request to Councillor Hall to provide details of meetings in which he stated that ex-Councillor Watmough was campaigning to save library facilities in Wrose and not the building as such (Letters, May 9), I can confirm that I was present at at least two meetings, when this was the case.
One meeting was the Wrose Tasking Group meeting of about six weeks ago, and another meeting was a Wrose Parish Council meeting. There may have been others.
It is very difficult for minute-takers to note, word-for-word, what is being said in a discussion. Sometimes only the general context of the discussion is minuted. Sometimes complete responses are missed.
Also, in all the literature that ex-Councillor Watmough delivered to his constituents, it stated that he would try to save library facilities in Wrose and not necessarily the building.
I do not necessarily agree with ex-Councillor Watmough, nor Councillor Hall, as I would like to see the library building saved, but I was a witness and have seen the literature, and can therefore confirm that each Councillor did state the desire to save facilities, not the building.
