I agree that the NHS has problems, but after reading “Nothing to smile for with NHS neglect” (Letters, May 10), I had to respond.
My family was left without a dentist as our NHS one went private, and I agree it is difficult finding another.
However, we didn’t wait for a dental emergency before we looked for one – we consulted PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) which advertises its services and contact number in GP surgeries, hospitals, dentists and the like in Bradford.
It is there to deal with NHS problems – mine was finding an NHS dentist within the area which we were able to travel to. Within three weeks all the family had a dentist we were happy with.
Also, three weeks ago, I went to my GP with a problem, and within a week I had got a scan at Eccleshill hospital.
I got another appointment to see a consultant, and then two weeks later went in for treatment. It has taken a month from start to finish. I couldn’t have got any better had I gone private.
The NHS in Bradford does get bad press, very few give praise, hence me responding strongly to this to offer a big thank-you to Bradford Hospitals and NHS.
