SIR – Terry Tordoff doesn’t like the idea of horse manure being used to grow rhubarb (T&A, April 4), apparently unaware that waste from most farm animals contains all the essentials required by plants.
In the Fifties I used to feed my tomato plants on sheep droppings, with brilliant results.
