SIR – I am writing to invite readers who have lost a loved one or who have been affected by a work-related accident or illness to join in a rally on International Workers’ Memorial Day.
This will take place at the new memorial garden at the back of Bradford City Hall at noon on April 28.
Workers’ Memorial Day is a time to remember the dead and help fight for the living. There will be a minute’s silence at midday followed by placing of wreaths, and a few short speeches will be made.
Bradford Area Safety Reps Association is organising the memorial, and safety representatives from several unions will be joining the commemoration.
Each year more people are seriously injured and killed at work in Bradford than on our roads.
Call me on (01274) 393949 or e-mail jane@baohsf.org.uk if you want to find out more about the day.
Jane Howie, Bradford Area Safety Reps Association, Chapel Street, Bradford
