SIR – What good reading Emma Clayton’s article (T&A, April 2) made about Drummonds Mill.
It was a great achievement for Drummonds to produce textiles for all those years.
I joined Drummonds in 1978 and I was kept in employment for the last 21 years of my working life until I retired in 1999.
In my opinion, the main reason why we were kept going for so long was down to a certain person called Stefan Simmonds, whose leadership and financial backing rescued us in the early 1980s.
I’m sure all my old colleagues at Drummonds will agree with me and say a big thank-you to Stefan Simmonds and his management team for brining the good times back to the mill or as I would call it our ‘spiritual home’.
