SIR – Regarding your article “Store admits car parking fine error” (T&A, April 9), it would be refreshing, perhaps, if Asda and its parking partners were as keen to uphold the other car park rules that are flagrantly ignored and abused at all times.
I am not only referring to the misuse of the mother and child and disabled parking bays, but to the fact that people regularly and blatantly ignore the two “no entry” signs on the bottom car park at the Shipley store.
Are drivers aware, I wonder, that the rules of the road also apply to car parks?
Perhaps, if having been caught on camera doing this, the offenders received fines in the post, as they do for overstaying their parking time, then it might stop.
Perhaps, also, if the entrance to the bottom car park was designed to stop the abuse of the no entry signs, that also would stop people from being lazy and putting other drivers at risk. I won’t hold my breath though.
