SIR – I am currently doing research, looking at events that took place in and around Leeds, Hull, Manchester, York and Liverpool for the Festival of Britain in 1951.
So much of the focus for this nationwide event has looked at what happened at the South Bank site in London and we know that the North played as big a part as the South!
So, I wonder, in this 60th anniversary year, do your readers have any memories of visiting the Land Travelling Exhibition in Leeds or Manchester?
Did anyone see what York or Liverpool had to offer as part of their Arts Festivals?
Maybe someone was in Hull to see the Festival exhibition on the warship HMS Campania?
Whatever the experiences or involvement, I would like to hear about them. Contact me via e-mail on c.a.benincasa@hud.ac.uk, or write to me at the address below.
