SIR – So, Labour’s Ian Greenwood, the current leader of Bradford Council, is against Government instructions, delaying publication of all bills over £500 “to protect the interests of (local) businesses” (T&A, January 24).
According to him, this is so that Bradford businesses cannot be undercut by firms elsewhere.
But surely all services purchased by our Council should be the cheapest available as long as the end product is the same? If this is not possible locally, then that is just unfortunate for the businesses concerned.
We, as Bradford ratepayers, should not be paying over the odds for any services purchased by the Council. No wonder our Council Tax is so high, and the leadership is struggling to find the necessary reductions, if this is what has been going on.
