SIR – How refreshing to read that a company who had originally decided to remove more of Bradford ’s lovely history had a change of heart (T&A, January 22). I sincerely hope that this company goes from strength to strength – but still retains the view/mindset/compassion that it holds today.
It would be interesting to know the identity of the ‘potential buyers’ of the pub and if their past history means that they are ‘asset strippers’ – sorry, but that’s almost a swear word to me, having been a victim of it. Please, Bradford planners, forget the ‘fast buck’ thing and think about what buildings can be seen by our children (who will be our story-tellers) and their offspring.
It’s okay to talk about somewhere, but if you can take your grandchildren to see what you’re talking about – what price would you put on that? To be truthful, I’m not an optimist about this – sorry folks – but please keep taking photographs of ‘life as it used to be’!
