SIR – Re Mr Halliday’s letter (T&A, January 14) regarding the state of the Carnegie building.
As many Windhill residents will know, I have been in regular contact with the owners, Mr and Mrs Lamb, and have requested on numerous occasions that they tidy up both the building itself and the surrounding land.
On my request, he eventually boarded-up the windows which where becoming a safety risk with broken glass working loose, but in my view this has made the visible situation even worse.
The director for regeneration has also spoken to the owner regarding the fast deterioration of the building and has also requested that he does something about it.
I have since had several meetings with Labour Councillor Dave Green who is the executive member for regeneration. As a result, he has written to Mr and Mrs Lamb to ascertain their plans for the building and has also offered assistance to bring the building back into use if they wish to meet with him. I will ensure that you are kept informed of any progress.
Councillor Vanda Greenwood, Windhill & Wrose (Labour), City Hall
