SIR – On Tuesday, January 11, I watched Hugh’s Big Fish Fight on Channel 4 and what an eye-opener the programme was.
It would appear that our trawlermen have to work twice the hours at sea to land less than half their catches due to draconian, barmy EU quota rules.
It would seem as though the so-called fisheries conservation “experts”, who spend their time behind desks, have got very little idea about our oceans’ fish stocks.
How wonderfully the first programme concluded, with the trawlermen of Hastings throwing part of their catches beachward for the public to salvage and take home and enjoy free of charges rather than being dumped at sea and wasted.
I sincerely hope that presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall gets the British public spirit behind him in his great campaign against this utter EU madness.
